The first day of September dawned chilly and wet, but by the time The Taste of Downtown event started, the skies had cleared. It was a beautiful day to wander in downtown Silver City, sampling the wares of 17 local restaurants. The offerings ranged from sweet to savory, with many imaginative variations of old recipes.

All 200 tickets had been snapped up before noon, and some eager samplers had to be turned away. The event raised funds for the Silver City MainStreet Project and also highlighted local restaurants.

Love Local, a concurrent event, had downtown businesses offering deals to shoppers and also supplied free tote bags to customers. In addition, the Southwest Women’s Fiber Arts Collective held a pop-up sale featuring offerings from local fiber artists.
