On Friday, Sept, 8, 2018, Grant County sheriff’s deputies arrived at 212 Cuprite Street, Tyrone, at approximately 2:54 p.m., in reference to a stabbing in progress. When deputies arrived, according to a Grant County Sheriff’s Department narrative, they observed a female victim sitting on the front porch bleeding from a wound on the right side of her back and subsequently placed a male suspect there in investigative detention.
A deputy continued to apply pressure to the wound until EMS took over and the deputy advised he could see “a laceration approximately one inch long that looked to be very deep,” the narrative said.
The victim advised they were arguing because she told the suspect she didn’t want to be with him anymore. At some point during the struggle, she said, she ended up on the male’s lap and that is when she was stabbed.
Other witnesses advised they heard yelling outside and saw and heard the two fighting inside a vehicle, and one stated he went to the car and took the knife away from the suspect. Deputies advised they could see a black-handled knife lying on the ground near the passenger side of the vehicle.
Detectives then took over the scene and transported the suspect to the GCSD to be questioned, then to Gila Regional Medical Center for clearance, and then to Grant County Detention Center to be incarcerated. The victim was bandaged and transported to GRMC by EMS.
