32nd Street Overlay from Silver Street to Ridge Crest Begins Wednesday.

Two lanes will be open to GRMC, Silver High and local businesses

Beginning Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2018, the uneven and potholed pavement along 32nd Street from Silver Street east to Ridge Crest Street will be repaired with a 1 1/2-inch asphalt overlay. Two lanes will be open at all times, allowing access to Gila Regional Medical Center, Silver High and local businesses. The project is slated for completion on Friday.

Southwest Concrete and Paving is the contractor hired by the Town of Silver City to improve this heavily traveled stretch of roadway, which will then be "chip and fog sealed" next summer. The chip and fog seal process consists of laying down a layer of oil, then a layer of aggregate, which is then sealed. This $160,131 contract will also result in approximately $12,000 in gross receipts taxes, a portion of which goes directly to the town's budget.
