Silver City, New Mexico

On February 11, 2019 at approximately 1435 hours, Officers were dispatched to 2711 Leslie Rd (Lintero Apartments #38), in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, Officers observed a female lying on the ground in the apartment unresponsive. Medical Personnel arrived and provided medical attention. Upon further investigation, it was determined that the female had a gunshot wound to the back of her head. The female was identified as Victoria Ramos (30 years of age).

Upon further investigation Officers confirmed Christopher Madrid (29 years of age) as the suspect. Later that evening approximately 1747 hours, Deputies from the Grant County Sheriff’s Office and Officers from the Silver City Police Department received an unwanted subject call at 2001 Delk. Officers received information that Christopher Madrid was on the property. Officers attempted to locate Christopher Madrid. Officers made contact with Christopher near the area of Wendy’s. Christopher Madrid ran from police into the ditch area. Officers were able to place Christopher Madrid into custody for resisting, evading, obstructing.

Officers conducted a search warrant at 2711 Leslie Rd #38. Upon further investigation a black backpack was found in the living room. Contained in the backpack was a black beanie with a green emblem. The beanie also had eye holes cut out. The back pack also contained several .22 caliber bullets. It was later determined that the backpack belongs to Christopher Madrid. The beanie that was found is linked to the Armed Robbery committed on February 6, 2019 at the Hudson Chevron.

Upon further investigation, information was gathered and Officers of the Silver City Police Department charged Christopher Madrid with Armed Robbery (1st degree felony) and Attempted Murder (2nd degree felony). He is currently being held at Grant County Detention Center. The investigation is still ongoing.
