The 33rd Annual Tour of the Gila Bicycle Race begins Wednesday May 1, 2019 and runs through May 5, 2019. For more information about the race please visit www.tourofthegila.com 

For Silver City, the biggest race event will occur on Saturday May 4, 2019, in the downtown area. The race route for this day covers Bullard Street, College Avenue, Cooper Street and West Broadway. There will be restroom facilities located throughout the downtown area. For the Saturday event, the Visitor’s Center parking lot will remain open for parking.

As a Public Safety Issue, there will be no parking on Hudson Street, at any residential properties or driveways, or blocking any alley or driveway. Vehicles that are parked improperly may be subject to being towed at the owner’s expense.

Access to the downtown area will be by foot traffic only with the exception of emergency vehicles and residents who live within the race boundaries. There will be access points provided for the interior area which will be manned by race volunteers.

If you are planning to come for the day to watch the races, we recommend that you check the weather forecast to determine appropriate attire such as umbrella or a hat for shade. Don’t forget sunscreen.

No alcohol is allowed in public places and law enforcement will be out in force during the 5-day event. We are expecting large crowds this year; we ask motorists to please be patient and share the road with event participants and spectators. We are also asking event participants and spectators to be patient with motorists. The rules of the road apply to participants and drivers during the events.
