On Saturday, April 13, 2019, the Silver City Public Library was full of parents, kids and other adults taking part in the crafts, the information  tables, the raffle, listening to music or simply choosing which free books to take home. More than 250 raffle tickets had been handed out by noon.

Volunteer Linda Ferrara said she emails book publishers asking for donations of books to give away. So far this year, about 1,300 have been received. She reported the library gave away close to 4,000 last year.
