According to Kenney, this event was the first event of the 1st New Mexico Bank Wild, Wild West Pro Rodeo, held in the morning of Wednesday, June 12, 2019. He said the cowboys come from all over the West for this event, because it is rare for it to be part of a commercial rodeo. It is a skill needed for a lone cowboy on the range who needs to bring down a steer by himself and tie it up for doctoring, for instance. Involved in the skill is a well-trained horse, a strong cowboy, who lassos the horns of the steer and who can dismount while the horse is still going full tilt to flip the steer on its side and keeping the rope taut to control the steer.

Also during the event, at least one cowboy tried bulldogging, transferring from his horse to the back of a bull. Team roping of steers and calves was also part of the event.
