According to Lt. Mike Burns of the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, at about 9:30 p.m., Thursday, July 18, 2019, deputies were dispatched to a North Hurley address in reference to a disturbance call. When deputies arrived the disturbance had escalated into a fight between two males and shots were fired.

One of the males barricaded himself in a house, Burns said, and he remains armed and barricaded as of 8 a.m., Friday, July 19, while the other male is unbarricaded and not currently involved in the present standoff.

The New Mexico State Police and Las Cruces Police Department are assisting. Burns said.
