Summary:
The lightning-caused Scout Fire is approximately .10 acres, burning on National Forest System lands, Grant County, NM. This fire is north of Signal Peak Road and burning in the 2006 Skates Fire scar.

It is currently one snag burning at the base and spread potential is minimal due to recent precipitation. The fire might be visible from NM Hwy 35 and Signal Peak Road. Signal Peak Lookout and an engine crew will monitor the fire through the weekend.

Smoke from fire rises during the daytime, but in the evening can pool down in canyons, drainages, and basins.
