0625191907a95hdrALBUQUERQUE – The Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce announced in June the recipients of the 2019 Chamber Awards, to those elected officials and public servants who have done the most over the past year to make Albuquerque and New Mexico a great place to start a business and raise a family. The Chamber’s 2019 “Newcomer of the Year” Award went to Senator Gabriel Ramos, who was appointed to Senate District 28 during this year’s legislative session.

Chamber Board Member and Sheehan & Sheehan attorney Jeremiah Ritchie presented Senator Ramos with the award, noting that Ramos was a “unanimous selection” despite the number of new legislators this session, and that his contributions were felt almost immediately. “We found Senator Ramos to be accessible, knowledgeable, and very concerned about the state’s fiscal position and budget,” said Ritchie. “He’s a Silver City businessman, so it’s no surprise to us that he often viewed issues in Santa Fe through an economic development lens.”

The Chamber also commended Senator Ramos on his independence and bipartisan approach to legislating, and looks forward to working with him in the legislature for years to come.
