The Gila Fish and Gun Club gun show held at the Hanover Outpost took place on Saturday, Aug. 10, 2019. Vendors sold everything from guns and holsters to jewelry, books, photographs and various other miscellaneous items. The Lone Mountain 4-H Club provided food for hungry shoppers.
Republican Candidate for the District 2 Congressional seat, Chris Mathys said he attends gun shows to talk about his candidacy, because "I know they respect safety. Gun owners at these shows are the safest people I've ever met. The ones who are selling the guns and running the shows care more about safety than anywhere else." He recounted a show where a man carrying a rifle walked in, paid the entrance fee and was asked to open the chamber, and there was ammunition in the chamber, which was required to be removed before he entered.
