Silver City, NM, July 6, 2020--The Gila National Forest, Silver City Ranger District has implemented a new closure order for the Tadpole Fire area west of NM Highway 15. The closure order prohibits entry to non-fire personnel due to the inherent hazards from the fire, as well as to provide for continued firefighter response to hotspots that remain in the fire area. The closure includes the area from Bear Creek Road 506 north and west of NM Highway 15, to and including the Sheep Corral and Trout Creek roads north of Tadpole Ridge. In addition, the McMillan and Cherry Creek Campgrounds are closed due to the potential for debris flows once monsoon rains occur.

Forest Order 03-06-07-20-003: Tadpole Fire Closure Order has been rescinded, and acting Forest Supervisor, Eric LaPrice has signed Forest Order 03-06-07-20-008 Tadpole Fire Temporary Area Closure which is effectively immediately.

Signal Peak Road and Meadow Creek Road are now open. This temporary closure order includes Cherry Creek and McMillan Campgrounds, various Forest Roads and trails as shown in Forest Order and Exhibit A (Map). NM Department of Transportation has completed the work on drainages and culverts on the highway and NM Highway 15 is now reopened.
