(Silver City, NM)-On August 28,2012 at approximately 12:30pm, a deputy with the Grant County Sheriff s Office received an anonymous tip of a possible burglary that was going to happen in the Cliff area. The anonymous caller advised a Joe Lockett and a Keith Bounds were conspiring to gain entry into a locked tractor trailer, belonging to Williamson Electric Company, and was stored behind Keith Bounds' residence. The tractor trailer contained electrical contractors' tools, equipment, conduit, reels of various types of electrical cable and other miscellaneous items. The deputy responded to a location near where this tractor trailer was located and started to do surveillance. The deputy, while doing surveillance through binoculars, did see Keith Bounds and Joe Lockett open the right rear door and enter into the trailer. This deputy saw them removing multiple items from the trailer. The items were then placed into a vehicle that Joe Lockett had taken to the area. Joe then left the area and was intercepted by another deputy on Airport Mesa Road.


During the initial investigation and search of Joe Locketts' vehicle, the Sheriff Deputies did locate the items stolen out of the tractor trailer. During the investigation it was also discovered that Joe Lockett admitted to being in possession of 4 reels of electrical cable belonging to the Williamson Electric Company at his residence. All items stolen were then taken into evidence. The total value amount of the items stolen is approximately $4,500.00 dollars. Arrest warrants were obtained for Joe Lockett and Keith Bounds for Burglary, Larceny, Conspiracy to Commit Burglary and Conspiracy to Commit Larceny. Both subjects were then taken into custody and transported to the Grant County Detention Center without incident. Total bond for each subject was $25,000 dollars.
