First Friday, because of the winter season, had most of its activities indoors on Friday, Jan. 4.

The first event was "Celebrate Silver!"-featuring two photographers' visions of Silver City. Tom Vaughan and Sandy Feutz, in the first of three shows, are exhibiting their work at the Mimbres Region Arts Council gallery at Wells Fargo Bank through Jan. 31.

"It helps that we're retired," Vaughan said. "We're teenagers in our 70s."

Feutz said they, who form FeVa Photography, appreciate the opportunity to show their work in Silver City. "I take a photo when it evokes an emotion in me when I see something."

Vaughan said his camera is a good way to "see the roses. I'm alert to light, and my camera helps me not to rush by, but helps me see the details. Our motto is: Share the Joy!"
