choc fant 2013 SILVER CITY, NM - The Mimbres Region Arts Council is pleased to announce that preparations for the annual chocolate extravaganza – CHOCOLATE FANTASIA – are turning into something truly sweet for 2013. This year's theme is Along the Milky Way. Mark your calendar now and save the date: Saturday, February 9, 2013 in downtown Silver City.

Delightfully-delicious, gourmet chocolate tasting is the center of this event and tasting tickets are $20 for 20 individual pieces of chocolate from up to 30 Chocolate Stops in and around the Town's historic district. Downtown merchants and galleries will decorate in keeping with the Milky Way theme and there will be lots of free events for the entire family including site-specific events, games, a Star Parade and other events to be announced.  Chocolate Fantasia tickets traditionally sell out so be sure and purchase yours early.  Remember you can always share the 20 chocolates with your Valentine.

This year chocolate events start at 11 a.m. and will last until 4:00 p.m. Chocolate Stop maps and empty Valentine boxes ($2.00 each for collecting your chocolates) will be available at Chocolate Fantasia Headquarter at the Silco Theater on Bullard Street.

During the day the chocolates will be sampled and judged in a number of categories and awards will be given out at the beautifully renovated, historic Murray Hotel. All are welcome to attend the awards event. This year MRAC will feature four Star Chocolatiers – Chef Shevek of Shevek & Co.; Lyle Bolyard, Executive Chef at the Gila Regional Medical Center (Lyle was last year’s first place winner); Tina Klassen, Millie's Bake House; and King Crowder, Tre Rosat Café. Our Star Chocolatiers will compete in their own category. We also will be welcoming back many of our local gourmet chocolate makers and some new chocolatiers as well.

Chocolate Fantasia is a delicious way to spend a day with your sweetheart or family!  Come for the day or stay the weekend. We guarantee a truly delectable visit.

We are extremely grateful to local businesses whose sponsorship make this event possible: Gila Regional Medical Center, WNM Communications, and Silver City Sun News.
