School Board Election Day is from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5.

The Silver Consolidated School District and the Cobre Consolidated School District will have an election on Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, to elect new board members, as well as to RENEW a 2-mill tax levy for the next six years to pay for construction or repair of school buildings and facilities.

Voters will also have the chance to vote for their representative on the school boards.

For the Silver School Board, Position No. 1 has one candidate, Christopher B. Arvidson; Position No. 2, Michael Anthony Egan, and Position No. 4, two candidates, Arnold C. Torres and Margaret E. Hopper.

For the Cobre School Board, Position No. 1 has one candidate, Frank L. Gomez; Position No. 2, Frances O. Kelly; and Position No. 3, two candidates, Robert E. Montoya and Freddie M. Rodriguez.

Early voting for both districts at the Grant County Clerk's Office continues this week and ends Friday, Feb. 1. The office will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Voting for the Silver Schools candidates and tax levy on Election Day, Tuesday, Feb. 5, will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at any of the Voting Convenience Centers at Cliff Schools, Harrison Schmitt Elementary, Jose Barrios Elementary, Silver City Woman's Club or Silver City High School.

Voting for Cobre School Board candidates and the renewal of the 2-mill levy will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, for Consolidated No. 1, Precinct Nos. 25, 26 and 27, will take place at the Cobre School District Administration Building; Consolidated No. 2, Precinct Nos 24 and 34 and those portions of Nos. 8 and 23 within the District(the Cenbtrals-Fort Bayard area and the area west of Santa Clara to the district line) at Central Elementary School; Consolidated No. 3, Precinct Nos. 28 and 29 and that portion of No. 30 within the District (the Hurley-Whitewater-North Hurley area) at Hurley Community Center; Consolidated No. 4, Precinct Nos. 5 and 10 and those portions of No.s 3 and 4 within the district (being the Mimbres Valley area); and Consolidated No. 5, Precinct No. 9 and that portion of No. 7 within the district (the Santa Riat-Hanoever-Fierro-Georgetown Road-Turnerville area).
