(Silver City, NM)-On February 7,2013 at approximately 6:10 pm, deputies with the Grant County Sheriffs Office were dispatched to the 3200 block of Highway 35 in Mimbres NM in reference to an ambulance call. The call for an ambulance was due to a child being unresponsive who had allegedly fallen from a dirt embankment. On arrival it was discovered this child was three years old and had to be airlifted to an undisclosed hospital with life threatening injuries. On Saturday February 9, 2013 the Sheriff's Office was advised the child had passed. The body is going to be sent to the Office of the Medical Investigator for an autopsy. The Sheriff s Office is investigating this matter and will release further information as it comes available.
