In order for volunteer staff to have the opportunity to celebrate Thanksgiving Day, entrance to the Gila Cliff Dwellings will close at 2 pm MST on Thursday, November 28, 2013. Visitors entering the trail to the cliff dwellings by 2pm will have until 3 pm to complete their visit. The Gila Visitor Center will close at 3 pm on Thanksgiving Day. Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument will be closed on Christmas Day, December 25, 2013 and on New Year’s Day, January 1, 2014.

On days other than these major holidays, entrance to the Gila Cliff Dwellings is permitted from 9 am until 4 pm MT. Visitors entering by 4 pm have until 5 pm to complete their visit. Volunteer staff is available all day in the cliff dwellings to answer questions. Beginning on Friday, November 29, 2013, the daily guided tour of the cliff dwellings will be offered 1 pm instead of the current tour time of 11 am. The 1 pm tour time will continue throughout standard time and then change back to 11 am during daylight saving time. Those planning to attend the guided tour should begin hiking up from the trailhead contact station no later than one-half hour before tour time. Visitors may also take the selfguided tour by obtaining a free copy of the Cliff Dweller Canyon Companion trail guide available at the trailhead.

Visitors should dress for the weather, carry water, and wear shoes or boots suitable for rugged trail walking. For more information, please contact the Gila Visitor Center at (575) 536-9461 or visit our website at www.nps.gov/gicl.
