"El Vaquero" oil painting by Roz Springer

The Grant County Art Guild is welcoming the summer's end with an array of talented artists at their Pinos Altos Art Gallery this weekend. This unique gallery, located at 14 Golden Avenue in the historic Hearst Church, shows the work of many of the 41 guild members in a wide array of media. Featured artists for Friday, September 12, will be Mark and Jane Bowen. Mark creates metal sculptures, some small enough to hang on your Christmas tree, as well as outdoor sculptures that are several feet tall and many sizes in between. All are amazing works of art, in a variety of different metals. Jane finds her talents in needlework, handcrafting cozy shawls and other knit items that are perfect for the fall season ahead. Jane also paints and makes an affordable line of jewelry items.

On Saturday, September 13, Roz Springer, another amazing local artist, will be the featured artist at the gallery. Roz shows her love for the outdoors and faraway places through her oil and watercolor paintings. She is drawn to architecture - especially that of the Southwest and ancient places. Saturday is the perfect day to visit with Roz and check out her art.

Dawn Byrum is a newer member of the Grant County Art Guild whose work is already becoming a favorite with visitors to the gallery. She is the featured artist on Sunday, September 14. Her painting in pastels won a ribbon from the judges at the 2014 Members Only Show.

The Pinos Altos Art Gallery is open from 10 a.m. till 5 p.m. on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and major holidays through October 5. The 2014 Purchase Prize Award Exhibit opens with a reception at 5:30 on Tuesday, September 23, and continues through the last two open weekends at the gallery. Everyone is welcome to come see some of the best in local art and fine crafts in a historical setting. Admission is always free.
