The Silver City Gospel Mission is once again soliciting volunteers for the men's cold weather shelter.

We need greeters from 5:30 pm-7:30 pm and overnight hosts between 7:30 pm and 7:30 am.

This gives men ages 18 and up a place to come in for the night in the colder weather. We use the Mission itself as the shelter and have cots and bedding for 15 men and last year we were at full capacity a few nights.

We are looking at an initial opening date of November 1 through around March 30, depending upon the weather.

Volunteer greeters can be either male or female and they will make coffee, assist with any dinner and generally make our guests feel welcome and get them settled in.

Our male overnight hosts are paid $20 per night, make sure curfew is enforced and ensure good order and discipline is maintained so everyone can get a restful night's sleep.

We are trying to line up at least 14-21 greeters (you would have duty once every 2-3 weeks) and 3 overnight hosts.
