The Silver City Public Library will be offering several activities for youth ages 10-18 during the Silver Schools fall break (October 20-24). First of all, there will be a Youth Reviewers Challenge throughout that week. Youth are encouraged to read a library book--or find a library book that they have already read--in the library catalog and review it. The catalog is at http://silvercity.biblionix.com, and participants can contact a librarian at 575-538-3672 or ref@silvercitymail.com to find out how to log in and submit a review. Each person who adds a review to the catalog during Fall Break will be entered in a drawing for one of four prizes. The drawing will take place on Friday, October 24 between 10am and 12pm. You need not be present to win.

There will also be two special extra-long sessions of the WildWorks hangout on Tuesday, October 21, 2:00pm-4:00pm and Thursday, October 23, 2:00pm-4:00pm. This is a multi-activity space for exploring, experimenting, creating, gaming, and more. It includes Lego Mindstorms, chess, electronics, 3D drawing, Minecraft, programming, and other activities for ages 10+.

Finally, on Friday, October 24, 10:00am-12:00pm the library will host a Youth Readers Think Tank. This is an opportunity for youth ages 10+ to tell librarians--and each other--about the best reads of the year so far and suggest titles that the library should consider adding to the collection. There will be a prize drawing for those who participated in the Youth Reviewers Challenge during the week. Participants and librarians will compare notes about favorite blogs, apps, and sites, particularly for finding good reads. There will be refreshments. For more information about fall break youth activities at the Silver City Public Library, contact Lillian at 575-538-3672 or ref@silvercitymail.com.
