Want to meet people from all over the world? Volunteer at the Silver City Museum. "We have people from many different countries, and all over the United States who come to the Silver City Museum," states Volunteer Coordinator Jan White. "These visitors are greeted by volunteers at the reception desk and in the Silver City Museum Society's Store. It is a fun way to meet the most interesting people."

The Silver City Museum relies on volunteers to help not only with visitor services, but with educational programming, exhibit installations, and collections. There are other interesting activities for volunteers to do at the museum. The museum hosts the annual Ice Cream Social and Victorian Christmas, two well attended community events. Volunteers at the museum receive a discount at the museum store, are recognized monthly at a volunteer social, and receive prizes for their service. Each year, an annual volunteer appreciation luncheon is held to honor them for their service to the museum and the community.

"Some volunteers work once a week and others once a month. We work with your schedule to make if easy and fun to volunteer at the museum," states Jan White.

If you are interested, contact Jan at the Silver City Museum located at 312 W. Broadway in Silver City, or call 575-538-5921 Thursday through Sunday, or email volunteercoordinator@silvercitymuseum.org.

The Silver City Museum creates opportunities for residents and visitors to explore, understand, and celebrate the rich and diverse cultural heritage of southwestern New Mexico by collecting, preserving, researching, and interpreting the region's unique history.
