Silver City MainStreet Board Vice President Patrick Hoskins announced that as of September 30, 2014, the exterior facade renovations have been completed.
In addition Board Treasurer Steve Townley announced an anonymous donor has issued an end of year donation challenge match of up to $3,000 for donations received before the end of this year.
Hoskins reported that external renovations have been completed including new parapet flashing that has been installed. The plaster detail on the exterior of the second floor has been restored. The second floor windows have been renovated and painted.
On the first floor façade, the transom windows have all been reconstructed, the tile work below the windows replaced, stucco and paint applied.
The existing theater exterior entry vestibule has been reconfigured to more closely match the original historic entry vestibule plan. Existing nonstructural vestibule walls have been removed and replaced with new entry and side walls.
Additional exterior renovations have been completed at the rear of the building. A new exterior concrete exit staircase has been constructed at the south exterior elevation to provide access from the theater seating area elevation up to the existing grade level located at the south side of the building. An existing concrete ramp at same location was removed. A previous non-historic door opening was closed with brick work. New downspouts have been installed at the rear of the building.
Projected Interior Renovations to be completed by June 1, 2015
- New electrical and heat and air conditioning mechanical services.
- A new partition layout will be provided adjacent to the theater entry to provide spaces for one new restroom, janitor closet, storage, and interior theater vestibule.
- Conversion of two existing storefront spaces to concession (original historic use) and office.
- Balcony to be added in the auditorium.
- New theater seating and interior finishes.
- Isolated abatement of existing asbestos material per abatement report.
