Silver City, NM January 8, 2015 - The logo contest for Nuevos Comienzos Kitchen at The Commons has begun. A project of The Volunteer Center, Nuevos Comienzos at The Commons is focused on building a healthy and viable food economy in Grant County through mentorship of potential food entrepreneurs, and creating sustainable local businesses. Barb Fila, manager of Nuevos Comienzos, is eager to recruit users of the kitchen, but says there is still "quite a bit of ground to cover."

Of the many tasks ahead, there is especially one in which Fila would like to get the community involved. She would like to enlist the help of the community in the search for "the perfect logo for our new kitchen; one that shouts 'KITCHEN!' Something we can use on letterheads, posters, T-Shirts, hats, doggie sweaters, mouse pads and more. But here's the best part - prizes!"

The prize package will include art supplies and gift certificates from various local businesses. Thus far, over $250 in prizes has been donated, and Fila says, "We're not done yet. Since there will be only one winner, we want the prize package to be substantial. In addition to submissions from the general public, I'd like to get the art classes in the schools to pool their creative resources, so if a student wins, the whole class wins."

To obtain a copy of contest rules, stop by The Commons at 501 East 13th St (corner of Corbin and 13th) in Silver City, or email barb@tvcgrantcounty.org
