Literacy Link-Leamos, New Mexico Workforce Connection, WNMU Adult Education Services, and the Silver City Public Library are offering free opportunities for continuing education and workforce development as part of a broader technology training partnership. Literacy Link-Leamos is leading study labs on Tuesday afternoons (2:00-4:00pm) at the library. The study labs offer opportunities for self-directed learning, particularly for adults who seek continuing education. Learners can use the study lab to practice computer skills, study for standardized tests, brush up on math skills, and more. A Literacy Link-Leamos tutor is available to offer learning resources and to answer questions.

New Mexico Workforce Connection offers hands-on workshops for job seekers, who learn how to use computers and the internet for resume building, job searching, job training programs, and more. Their next workshop will be Tuesday, February 24, 4:00-5:00pm at the library.

WNMU Adult Education services offers four-week basic computer skills series at the library from 2pm to 4pm on Wednesdays and Fridays. They also offer numerous free classes in English, high school equivalency test preparation, and computer skills at Watts Hall, 500 East 18th Street, Silver City. For schedule information, call Adult Education Services at 574-5101.

The Silver City Public Library is located at 515 W. College Avenue in Silver City. It is not necessary to register beforehand for the Literacy Link-Leamos study labs or the Workforce Connection workshops. However, there are only fourteen computers available to use at each session. Learners can contact Literacy Link-Leamos at 388-0892 and Workforce Connection at 538-3737 for more information about these sessions.

The library and its partners are eager to offer these learning opportunities to help citizens pursue further education, participate in the economic life of the community, and improve their quality of life. The study labs and workshops are part of an ongoing project, Digital Literacy Training: 21st Century Skills for a Sustainable Grant County. The project is made possible by the support of a Freeport-McMoran Community Investment Fund grant of $15,000, awarded to the library in March 2014. Other project partners include the Bayard Public Library, the New Mexico Small Business Development Center, WNMU Director of Communications Abe Villarreal, and the Silver City Arts and Cultural
