Call for Volunteers:

Who: Silver Adult Care Services (SACS) is looking for volunteers to act as a companion for seniors with cognitive issues.

What: The volunteer will help the senior participate in the noon meal as well as encourage involvement in senior center activities or other planned activities as directed by their individual care plan. Volunteers will receive training on senior care issues by our nursing staff.

When: Commitment needed is 4 hours one day a week between the hours of 10:00 am to 2pm to spend time with an identified senior at the Silver City Senior Center.

Where: Silver City Senior Center, 205W Victoria St., Silver City, NM

Why: The purpose is to provide respite for family caregivers and to lessen social isolation and depression in the senior. There is no fee charged for this service to the family.

Success of this pilot program lies with dedicated volunteers.
