The Volunteer of the Month for May 2015 at the Silver City Museum is Jane Foraker-Thompson. Jane is currently working as a greeter to our museum visitors. She has helped in the gift shop and at the Victorian Christmas as well. Jane is an avid Rver and has traveled from coast to coast. She has been using Silver City as a home base while traveling and now she has settled here because this is where her grandparents began their marriage.

Jane has four children and four step-children, 13 grandchildren and three greats. She is blessed to both raise a family and have an interesting and challenging career. Her first career was as a criminologist in the field for the NM State Police. Then she taught criminal justice at Boise State University. Finally, she was ordained as an Episcopalian priest and served as the prison chaplain for the Nevada Department of Corrections.

Jane thinks volunteering is fun because she gets to meet people from all over the United States and the World. She likes museums because she is a retired academic and member of the clergy and believes in the preservation of our history.

Thank you, Jane, for all you do.
