Malika Crozier"A Painter Working in Clay at the Hearst"

The historic Hearst Church, located at 14 Golden Avenue in Pinos Altos, was built in 1898 and today serves as a tribute to both history and art. The stained glass windows and the high wooden ceiling overlook a world of artwork and handcrafted items, the work of the local artists and crafters of the Grant County Art Guild. This unique gallery is named the Pinos Altos Art Gallery and shows everything from fine art paintings to ceramics and needlework and much more. This weekend the gallery will have three days of member artists hanging special exhibits featuring their work.

Malika Crozier is a painter working in clay. She describes her creations Heartfelt Art For Everyday Use. Malika creates hand-built objects designed to be used to delight the soul and to remind us of the "Celebrate it All" attitude. Her pieces reflect a long interest in subtle images, symbols and ceremonies, nature and metamorphosis. Malika holds a B.A. in fine arts from the University of California in Los Angeles. She settled in Silver City in 2005 where she continues exploring and creating from the heart. Malika will be the featured artist at the Pinos Altos Art Gallery on Sunday, June 21. Come and see her intriguing clay creations.

Two other artists will be featured at the gallery this weekend. On Friday, June 19, Kate Robertson will be there to welcome you. Kittens are many times featured in her paintings and her hand painted craft items. Ginna Heiden will be the featured artist at the Pinos Altos Art Gallery on Saturday, June 20.
