AlanOsborneThe Silver City Museum will host a Brown Bag Lunch presentation by Alan Osborne, Chautauqua speaker, entitled "The Rediscovery of New Mexico between Coronado and Onate". The program will take place on Saturday, July 18 from 12 pm to 1 pm in the Silver City Museum Annex at 302 W Broadway in downtown Silver City. This presentation is part of the Chautauqua Series and is sponsored by the New Mexico Humanities Council, the Department of Cultural Affairs, and the Silver City Museum Society.

In this little-known period, Spanish explorers entered New Mexico Pueblo country and left behind a legacy of contact and conflict. This lecture examines the Rodriquez-Chamuscado, Espejo, Castaño de Sosa, and Humana-Bonilla expeditions.

Alan Osborne, native of Oklahoma, was educated at Oklahoma State University and completed his Master's coursework (UNM) in American Indian history and Spanish Colonial borderlands. His academic teaching and public lecturing specialties are American Indian history, Spanish Colonial borderlands frontier history, and Mexican-American territorial history.
