Shaman resizedMark Bowen's metal art "Shaman" is shown as it is used in an outdoor setting. Evidently Mark's creative works are also appreciated by the New Mexico wildlife.

The Grant County Art Guild is pleased to spotlight the works of four versatile and talented artists for the coming weekend at their Pinos Altos Art Gallery.

On Friday, July 31, Susan Rice, will be the featured artist. Susan works in glass-the perfect medium for bringing out true colors by adding the ever-changing effect of light. Her studio, Spirit Glass, produces originally designed stained glass pieces, continually stretching the limits of her medium to create unique designs. Her popular and very affordable earrings are also available at the gallery. Susan invites her friends and neighbors from Pinos Altos to stop in for a chat and see what she has to offer.

There to greet you at the gallery on Saturday, August 1 will be Guild member artists Mark and Jane Bowen with a special presentation of their work. Mark is known for his unique metal sculptures , both large and small. You will want to check out his creative pieces for both indoor and outdoor use as well as those small enough that could hang on your tree at the holidays. Jane makes shawls , scarves and other very useable pieces from yarn that are perfect for giving or keeping. Her talent is also expressed in other handcrafted items in addition to some very well done paintings.

Jackie Blurton will be the featured artist on Sunday, August 2. Jackie is a new member of the Guild this year and continues to receive recognition for her paintings . Especially nice are those of owls. Stop in and see what she is showing in her special exhibit.

The Pinos Alto Art Gallery, located in the historic Hearst Church, 14 Golden Avenue in Pinos Altos, in addition to special exhibits every weekend, features the work of 40+ local artists and fine crafters. The gallery is open 10 a.m. till 5 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday through October 18. There is never a charge to tour the building and the public is cordially invited to check out the creative works of the Grant County Art Guild members.
