Chimnea rsCeramic kiln-fired chimnea made by Mary Margaret Soule' is featured in the craft section at the Pinos Altos Art Gallery.

Most people in our area are well aware of the talented artists that show their work at the Grant County Art Guild's Pinos Altos Art Gallery but this very special gallery is also the home of an array of fine crafters in our area. Now on display is a delightful assortment of ceramics, fabric art, gourd art, holiday ornaments, metal sculptures and much, much more.

Mary Margaret Soule', whose work will be featured this Friday, August 14, is one of the Guild's versatile and creative crafters. Stop in and see her beautiful fabric art and needlework pieces, her kiln-fired ceramics and an array of other crafty kind of items. Mary is also the Guild's historian, and as one of the earliest members of the guild she can give you information on the historic Hearst Church that houses the gallery as well as the early days of the Grant County Art Guild.

On Saturday, August 15, FeVa Fotos photographers Sandy Feutz and Tom Vaughan will again be hosting at the gallery. Stop by and see their newest work and chat about what is happening in the world of photography.

Camille Painter-Davis will be the featured artist and give you an opportunity to check out her newest paintings and her assorted handpainted leather pieces and other craft items this Sunday, August 16. She is an amazing artist and her work has been such a nice addition to the gallery this year.

The Pinos Altos Art Gallery,located at 14 Golden Avenue in Pinos Altos, is a seasonal gallery, open from 10 a.m. till 5 p.m. on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and major holidays through October 18. The Grant County Art Guild, formed in 1968, is a non-profit organization of local artists and fine crafters with 40 + members who come together show their work at this unique gallery. The Guild has special shows coming to the gallery, including the 30th Annual Purchase Prize Show that opens with a reception on September 22nd and hangs through October 4.

The Red Dot Art Show is a new show for the Guild, in keeping with the area's Red Dot weekends in mid-October With some special happenings planned, the show will open October 10 and run through the 18th. Whether our special shows or the regular open days, there is never a charge to tour the gallery and to check out the interesting old building.
