A Benefit Fundraiser for Gila / Mimbres Community Radio

Gila / Mimbres Community Radio and KURU 89.1 FM are proud to announce their 3rd Annual Herb & Flower Fiesta.

The festivities begin on Friday 14 August from 9am - 4:30pm at €œThe Commons € at The Volunteer Center - 501 East 13th Street, Silver City, NM - with a full day of herb classes, both culinary and medicinal, teaching how to use herbs for food and medicine. Classes will be taught by local herbalists, cooks and chefs, and will utilize local produce, flowers and herbs. An herbal lunch will demonstrate how herbs can enhance the taste of food and improve health. The final class will be an Herb Walk at the garden of Bear Creek Herbs located at 604 N Bullard Street.

On Saturday August 15th from 9am to Noon, there will be a summer garden Flower Fiesta, featuring a silent auction of donated fresh flower bouquets and other gardening, herb and flower-related items. Please arrive with your bouquets by 9am. All are encouraged to vote for the People's Choice Awards for best bouquet.

On-going demonstrations will teach how herbs and flowers are grown and can be used to attract pollinators, increase insect diversity and be used for food and medicine. Floral foods, herb tea & free flower seeds will be offered.

In the past, more folks have attended the SC Farmers Market on this day than any other day of the season . Proceeds of all events benefit GMCR & KURU 89.1 FM.
