Silver City, NM - A week of campus events aimed to educate the community about gender issues will begin October 16 and run through October 22.

Glam Week at Western New Mexico University will feature several events including guest speakers, an art exhibit, a drag show, live music and a stand up comedian.

"We are really excited to share with our campus community and larger community these fun and educational events," said AsiaMarie Garcia, WNMU student and intern for The Center for Gender Equity. "There remain many misconceptions about LGBTQ and transgender people and these events will help bring understanding and awareness."

Most Glam Week events will be free and open to the public. The week's headline event will be a special stand up comedy performance by Ian Harvie, star of Transparent, an Amazon television program recently nominated for several Emmy awards. Harvie will perform at the Fine Arts Center Theater on Thursday, October 22 at 7:30 p.m. Cost to attend is $15 per person. Admission is free to WNMU students with Mustang Card.
