Silver City, NM - The Chair of the Grant County Democratic Party, Frances Vasquez, today announced the latest in the series of Thursday public forums at WNMU's Miller Library. To be held Thursday, November 19 at 6:30pm, "Falling through the Cracks: Kids at Risk" will address some of the most serious issues facing our community - children who are abused, whose families struggle to take care of them, who end up in the child welfare system, who end up in the criminal justice system.

Jointly presented by the Grant County Democratic Party and WNMU's J. Cloyd Miller Library and MEChA, the panel will be moderated by Anita Roberts, CASA, Grant and Luna Counties. Speakers will include Richard "Andy" Anderson, County Office Manager for the Grant County CYFD office; Alena and Andrew Johnson, Foster Parents; Bianca Padilla, Program Coordinator, Juvenile Probation Office; Jeanine Jones, School of Social Work, WNMU. (See attached flyer.)

"Our children are our most precious assets," declared Ms. Vasquez. "We all have a role to play in protecting those at risk and ensuring that every child in our area has a decent chance to prosper in life."

The forum panelists are all highly knowledgeable about the child welfare system, and they are on the front lines of defending and supporting children and youth at risk in Southwest New Mexico. The public is invited to come and learn from and interact with this knowledgeable panel, and find out how we can all help support our children.

As always, food will be served after the forum. Free. For more information, contact the Grant County Democratic Party at 654-6060 or email at grantcountydemocrats@gmail.com.
