Silver City, NM - Silver City mayoral candidates will answer audience questions at a Thursday, February 18 town hall meeting in the J. Cloyd Miller Library on Western New Mexico University Campus, beginning at 6:00 pm, according to WNMU vice president Magdaleno Manzanarez, event coordinator.

The town hall will be the next edition of the ongoing "Third Thursday" forums at the WNMU Miller Library. It will allow Silver City voters to interact directly with the three candidates running for Silver City Mayor - Cynthia Ann Bettison, Mark S. Donnell, and Ken Ladner.

"Mayoral races in Silver City are non-partisan," says Frances Vasquez, chairwoman of the local Democratic Party, "but we Democrats support this town hall because we believe the public needs many opportunities to hear candidates talk about citizens' concerns. We advocate for open discussions and a big turnout of voters at the election on Tuesday, March 1." "When the Grant County Democratic Party initiated this series of public forums back in 2011 we had no idea how popular and important they would become," stated Manzanarez. "This is will be the thirty-sixth forum in the series, and as usual, it deals with matters of immediate concern to our community and should be highly informative."

This event is co-sponsored by WNMU's Miller Library and MEChA organization, as well as the Silver City Sun-News. Shelby Hallmark, the GC Democratic Party Vice-Chair, will serve as moderator.

Everyone is invited, and you are urged to bring thoughtful and specific questions to put to the mayoral candidates.

As always, food will be served following the forum.
