Here at the Small Business Development Center at Western New Mexico University our network mission is "To develop skilled entrepreneurs and strong businesses." We are diligent in staying in touch with compliances, rules, regulations, and other changes that may affect those clients we serve. The U.S. Department of Labor has made some changes that will have a lasting impact on many business owners and their employees.

We will be hosting Grant Wallace from the Department of Labor, Wage and Hour Division to conduct a presentation on the Fair Labor Standards Act and the new overtime rules. He will be discussing how business owners and HR professionals can maintain compliance with the new law. The presentation is open to anyone, whether you own a business or are an employee.

The presentation will be at the Besse-Forward Global Resource Center on the campus of Western New Mexico University on October 26 from 1:00-3:00pm. For those of you in the Deming area, the presentation is going to be streamed live so you can view the presentation at the satellite campus of WNMU at the Mimbres Valley Learning Center. If for some reason you cannot attend in either Silver City or Deming, you will be able to view via a virtual portal. You can email SBDC@WNMU.EDU for the virtual address, instructions and password.
