New Mexico Health Options (NMHO), a newly formed mental health/substance abuse agency in Grant County, is now providing psychotherapy services to clients in Grant County and southwest New Mexico.

NMHO is credentialed with Medicaid and can accept clients who have Presbyterian, Molina, and Cigna health coverage. "We are also credentialed through TriWest, who partners with the Department of Veterans Affairs to provide veterans with behavioral care services." explained Silvia Madrid, the agency's lead therapist. "NMHO offers confidential individualized mental health and substance abuse therapy to people who also have private insurance, employee assistance programs or would like to pay for services as they are provided," Ms. Madrid said.

Ms. Madrid, who holds a master's degree in counseling, is accredited to provide bilingual therapy and trauma therapy. She has 25 years of counseling experience and is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) and a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor (LADAC). Over the years. Ms. Madrid has provided training for community mental health partners on "Ethics for Mental Health Professionals" and "Trauma Informed Care and Clinical Supervision for Mental Health Professionals". She will be facilitating a cultural competency training on Friday, Feb. 17, in Suite 11 at Hudson Street Plaza.
