Silver City, NM, January 31, 2017'For Immediate Release. On Sunday, January 29, members of the Silver City Cycling Community met with the Forest Service at the Servis Corral Trailhead at Fort Bayard Recreation Area to learn how to work on trails.

The Silver City Ranger District is permitting the Tommyknocker Mountain Biking Race on February 25. Some of the proposed trails on the event's route need work, and 30 members of the group showed up to learn about trail maintenance, safety and trail improvement. The member/volunteers split into three groups, each assigned to a 'leader', someone who has attended an orientation on trail building and maintenance. After four hours of work on a beautiful New Mexico day, several trail re-routes were completed to address safety concerns and general trail maintenance was completed and participants left tired and happy.
