As a result of the community conversation organized by Deb James at the Office of Sustainability a couple of weeks ago, The Volunteer Center formed a group to discuss our local food system and climate.

The Center will be hosting a follow up conversation with the folks who participated in that conversation next Tuesday, February 7, from 4-6 at The Commons (501 E 13th St) and wants to open it up to the larger community.

Many are interested in different aspects of food: production, access, education, sharing, processing, preparing, etc. This follow up conversation will have the basic foundation to assess the current food situation in Grant County, try to put all of the pieces together that are already happening, figure out realistic and attainable goals to fill the holes and needs that are not being met, and create a plan to move forward.

The VC would love to have as many players in the local food movement there as possible. The more voices in a conversation, the more dynamic the ideas that come out of it. Please spread the word to all you know who may be interested in participating.

Thank you all for the work you do to add to the resilience and love of our community. You are all appreciated.

In solidarity,

Kristin Lundgren
