The Dutch Oven Gathering returns to Glenwood, NM this year.

The event will be held Saturday April 8, from about 10am to around 4pm at the Glenwood Community Park on the Catwalk Poad. The public is welcome to attend. "We look forward to seeing you there," Molly Bryan, organizer, said.

The event will feature several Dutch oven cooking teams preparing various meals over campfires and charcoal fires in Dutch ovens, which will be served later that afternoon.

The event organization will slightly differ this year from previous years. A contest will not be a part of the event this year, as the organizing committee tries to get it going again. No tastings will be offered either.

"We plan on having the cook teams cook a whole meal," Bryan said. "The meal will include a meat or stew, chili or casserole of some type; a side dish like a potato or vegetable of some kind; and a bread of some sort; and a dessert. We will sell tickets for the meals for $10 each and each ticket holder will be served a whole meal. It will be a first-come, first-served type of event, and when the tickets are gone that will be it. There will be drinks'water, lemonade, tea or coffee' supplied with the meal."

Vendors at the event will sell items for purchase by attendees. "Come and browse and enjoy the day," Bryan said.

She said the cooks are always glad to visit and tell people about their ways of cooking.

Another food vendor will offer other food options, if the tickets get sold out.

"We plan on serving the Dutch Oven meal around 2 p.m.," Bryan said.

Other activities will be going on in Glenwood that day also. The Women's Club will hold a rummage sale at the community center in Glenwood, and the library will have a book sale.

The Catwalk is open, "so come and enjoy a nice day in our nice little community. Hope to see you there," Bryan said.
