Silver City, NM, June 27, 2017—For Immediate Release. All Gila National Forest (Gila NF) offices and ranger stations will be closed on Tuesday, July 4. Regular business hours will resume Wednesday, July 5. As a reminder, Forest Supervisor Adam Mendonca reminds the public "that there are no fire restrictions at this time, but explosives and fireworks are always prohibited on National Forest System lands."

Despite the office closure, fire personnel, law enforcement officers, and recreation staff will be on-duty on the 4th of July holiday for the safety of visitors.

Fire restrictions have not been implemented on the Gila NF as of this date. Please keep in mind that campfires, charcoal, coal and wood stoves are permitted at this time. Remember to practice good campfire safety and respect your public lands by packing out your trash.
