This year's Fire Prevention Week theme, "Every Second Counts: Plan 2 Ways Out!" works to better educate the public about the critical importance of developing a home escape plan and practicing it. The Silver City Fire Department is working in coordination with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), the official sponsor of the Fire Prevention Week for more than 90 years, to reinforce those potentially life-saving messages. Fire Prevention Week is October 8-14, 2017

The Silver City Fire Department is hosting an open house at both of their fire stations from October 8-14 9 am to 5 pm in support of Fire Prevention Week and this year's campaign, we would like to invite the community to attend. The event will include a short presentation as well as a tour of a fire station and fire trucks. Sparky the fire dog will be there for the kids. Each child will receive a bag with various fire prevention related activity items and refreshments.
