Beginning December 1, 2017 the NMDOT will be closing the gates located on NM 159 seasonally; lower gate at mile post 12.3 and the upper gate located at mile post 22.6 will be CLOSED due to expected winter weather conditions making the roadway impassable. The traveling public is asked to use US 180 to NM 12 (Reserve) to NM 435 (Reserve Beaverhead Road) for access into Willow Creek, Snow Lake and the Gila National Forrest.

The NMDOT will monitor gates, expected opening next spring.
