Jan. 14 at 10 am, 3845 North Swan Street - “History of HIV/AIDS” - Hugh Epping will talk about the history of HIV/AIDS from a health care provider’s perspective; and about the social issues facing not only those who are infected, but also those affected by their associations with them. He’ll explore the status of care then and now, both nationally and locally.

Epping was the past Executive Director of Open Door Clinic in Elgin, IL during the beginning of the AIDS Epidemic. Open Door immediately began addressing HIV/AIDS as soon as the first article about the epidemic appeared in 1981and was on the leading edge in innovative care and coordination of services.

Since Epping’s retirement, Open Door still continues to provide needed services with a variety of programs. Today, he serves on the Board of Directors of Open Door.

This week is a Children’s Program Sunday, continuing the Sing to the Power lessons exploring the power of roots (that we are grounded in all that has shaped our lives) and the power of growth (the power to bring forth new life and nurture growth). We look forward to having your family join our program.

There will be coffee and conversation after the service, and visitors are welcome. If you’d like to find out more about the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Silver City, email uufellowshipofsilvercity@gmail.com or visit our website at www.uufsc.com.
