Glenwood, NM, January 10, 2018—The USDA Forest Service has designated fee-free days for 2018. The first one of these will be on January 15, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. The Catwalk Recreation Area, Glenwood Ranger District, is a day-use area which ordinarily charges $3 for parking fees. On January 15, this fee will be waived.

The other fee free days for 2018 are:

· February 19 – Presidents Day

· June 9 – National Get Outdoors Day

· September 22 – National Public Lands Day

· November 10-11 – Veterans Day Weekend

Outdoor recreation can take many forms, and the Gila National Forest offers a wide variety of activities including camping, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, fish, and hunting. Being connected to nature can promote good health, enjoyment and improve environmental stewardship.
