kathy klump rsKathy Klump is the scheduled speaker for the next Westerners meeting, to be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. at the Cross Point Church Fellowship Hall. Cross Point Church is located at 11600 Highway 180 East, 1.1 miles east of the Walmart entrance on the south side of the highway. A full dinner will be catered. Klump will tell the story of John Walter Klump and his association with the partnership of the "Y" Cattle Company, one of the largest ranches in eastern Arizona and western New Mexico in the late 1800s.

John Walter Klump, also known as J.W. Wiley, was the grandfather of the Klump brothers who currently own ranches in southeastern Arizona. His partnership with the "Y" Cattle Company included the Hurst, Black, Kiehne, and Wiley families, and the story of the ranch includes many well-known personalities from the histories of Arizona and New Mexico. Kathy Klump has reconstructed the rise and fall of a great cattle ranch up to the last roundup of cattle, which were sold to pay the debts. Her story then follows the Klump family to Willcox, Arizona in the early 1900s.

Kathy Bliss Klump is a member of the Western Writers Association and a third-generation Arizonan. Her husband, Keith Klump, is a son of John Walter Klump. They have six children and live in one of the original historical homes in Willcox. She has dedicated over forty years of volunteer activities for the town. She is the president of the Sulphur Springs Valley Historical Society and oversees the operations of the Chiricahua Regional Museum and Research Center. She is also active in researching, collecting and preserving the history of Willcox and the surrounding towns in the Sulphur Springs Valley, and has written six non-fiction books on local history. Klump has served on the Rex Allen Arizona Cowboy Museum board, and on the board of directors of the Cochise County Historical Society. She is alsoa member of the Willcox Cowbelles as well as several other groups, boards and foundations.

Westerners International is an international group dedicated to sharing and preserving the history of the American West. The local chapter meets on the third Tuesday of every other month throughout the year, except for December, when the meeting is held on the second Tuesday. Dinner is served at the meeting, and the cost is $12.00 per person for members and $15.00 per person for non-members. The public is invited to attend the meeting, and should make reservations with Mary Margaret Soule at 538-2888 by Sunday, February 18.
