If you happen to receive a call that says Apple in the Caller ID, is it NOT Apple. It is a phishing attempt.

The person who called me had a VERY strong accent and said Apple had detected suspicious activity on my iCloud account, and I should press 1 to speak to a support person or press 2 to hang up. I did neither. I just hung up.

I searched the Apple support site and Apple does NOT call anyone about security issues, EVER.

Keep your security software up to date; do not answer or react to threats that your information has been compromised.

[Editor's Opinion: Spam calls and email are becoming so frequent, it kind of makes one want to stop answering the phone; stop reading emails; and just go hibernate somewhere. But the Beat will persevere. The site has a very strong firewall to prevent hacks, although people try to get through frequently. Why do they want to hack us? We're a small fish in a large pond. But we totally appreciate our readers!]
