Quemado, NM, April 11, 2019—The Gila National Forest, Quemado Ranger District had planned to conduct a broadcast burn starting the week of April 15, weather dependent. This prescribed burn has been postponed and the temporary closure rescinded.

After reviewing conditions on the ground, predicted weather and recent precipitation, fire managers have postponed the burn. Fire managers will continue to monitor and propose to begin the burn later in the spring when weather is more conducive to burning.

Air quality information and health protection measures are posted online at the New Mexico Department of Health’s website: https://nmtracking.org/fire .
