The Gila River Festival will join with young people around the planet for the Global Climate Strike. Inspired by 16-year old Swedish student Greta Thunberg, strikers are demanding that governments step up to take urgent action to prevent catastrophic climate breakdown by phasing out fossil fuels, and accelerating the urgent transition to a sustainable, renewable energy powered future with climate justice and equity at its core.

The 15th annual festival scheduled for September 19 - 22 in Silver City calls attention to the climate emergency, explores the future of the Gila River in relation to the changing climate, and addresses our moral obligation to act as responsible stewards of the Earth.

The 15th annual Gila River Festival provides an opportunity to learn more about the climate crisis through four days of presentations, field trips, workshops, community art projects, and more!
