SANTA FE-  The New Mexico MainStreet Program to offer workshops on the benefits of becoming a MainStreet community. The workshops will help interested communities find out how their downtown, village plaza, traditional neighborhood, commercial district or town square can apply for membership.

New Mexico MainStreet’s professional staff will hold two separate three-hour presentations of the Main Street Four Point Approach® (Design, Organization, Promotions, Economic Positioning) to downtown revitalization. Meetings will be held in:

“This is an incredible opportunity for our communities interested in revitalizing their traditional commercial districts supporting locally owned businesses, to leverage state resources and support,” said New Mexico MainStreet Program Director Rich Williams.

These workshops are in preparation for adding new state-designated MainStreet communities this winter and will allow communities to get an idea of what becoming a MainStreet Community entails.

Last year, the 23 New Mexico MainStreet communities succeeded in supporting the creation of 133 new businesses, 141 building rehabilitations, 592 new jobs and leveraged $11.26 million in private sector reinvestment in MainStreet Districts.
